Tender Mercies

I just listened again to Elder Bednar's talk on tender mercies. It is such a classic!

Dad and I had a tender mercy given to us today. We went to a Hispanic Initiative training meeting, which was fine, but the best part came at the end when a new couple was assigned to our branch to help with missionary work. Turns out they returned a year ago from presiding over the Chile Concepcion mission. They are eager to help and are full of the missionary spirit--so we can't wait to start working with them. I think the work will move forward at an even higher rate now.

Of course, we still need a ward misison leader!

Singing in sacrament meeting

OK, I know this is my third blog tonight, but I have to tell this while I remember. (I probably won't post anything again for 3 weeks.)

Today Dad, David, Jen and I sang "A Child's Prayer" in our branch sacrament meeting. Rachel accompanied. Jen said it was the first time she has sung in church since she was 5--way to go Jen!

The first counselor in the branch presidency was moving and being released. He is an amazing man--sooo spiritual and kind. The branch president told the members the song was our gift to the outgoing counselor. The branch presidency had gotten to know David and Jen when we all had dinner at our house a week ago. Of course, they loved David and Jen because they could converse with them so well!

Anyway, singing was a great experience for me and I have my family members to thank for it. YOU ARE THE BEST.

Allison

I'm always amazed at how Allison can brighten my day. She has a slightly offbeat way of looking at things. With just a little twist, she can change your perspective about something.

Last week I was having a down day--not bad, just kind of blue. She happened to call, and with just a couple of funny statements about my concerns, she totally llifted my burden.

Thanks Alli--we miss you so much and wish you could be here.

OK family--here I go

I have decided to blog--just don't expect anything great. I'm only telling family members about it, because it's you to whom I am writing.

Allison has inspired me, and I understand David and Jen are writing a blog also (although they haven't clued me in on it yet). Maybe the rest of you will start too--but Dad would have to start writing a new one, since I don't know how interested we would all be in carbon emissions (which is the subject of his current blog).
